membership?

And since when the hell did I become the type of person that actually became a member of things? I like being part of groups, like concert band, orchestra, early music consort, but forking over quid to an organisation that probably has meetings and such means I might have to liaise with other people. Not just sit there and listen or do as I’m told but participate amongst grown-ups. I like people; I just don’t get along with them as well as I’d like for which I accept full blame. It’s certainly not intentional. You have people who lack common sense, or skills of observation, or in my case, social skills with big groups of people I consider to be grown-ups.

Or perhaps belonging to an organisation that isn’t entirely amateur is a public declaration that you (in general) take something seriously. Before that, you can choose to make it a passing fancy or pretend it is one. So after that, what?

I do ask the reader to try and understand that because of my family and cultural background, these ‘things’ I take seriously are traditionally looked at as being things done in addition to your real life. Please pretend it makes sense.

(Bloody hell, where is the crossfade button gone on Winamp? How much trouble I’ve gone to just to listen to a CD while typing…crap.)
