The author of Snarkattack was born in 1979, in London, England. At the age of four, she spent a year living in the Philippines, returned to England and then her family emigrated to Australia in 1987. She has lived in Melbourne ever since, with mixed feelings.
In 1997, she was accepted into the University of Melbourne to study a combined Bachelor in Arts and Music after auditioning on the flute. After suffering from a nervous breakdown in her third year of study, she was eventually forced to discontinue music study and struggled to complete her Bachelor of Arts.
She is working on a verse novel, and has since broken free from the fetters of classical music for that of early music and now plays the viol, or viola da gamba. She enjoys reading in French and English, writing, playing and listening to all sorts of music and devoting time to seeing friends feline and human, many of whom suffer her presence with kindness and loyalty.
She hopes one day to have a life free of prescription medication, further extend her collection of lipglosses and cheesy novelty-esque panties, and stop sponging off her ever-suffering and supportive family. She would like to be taller, but has settled on the more attainable goal of making it to a lean, healthy size 8 (EUR 36).
At present, she is enjoying not working full-time to focus on her verse novel. And sit in the sunshine reading with her cat. She is also attempting to prove that trying to be brainy and enjoying stereotypically ‘girlie’ pursuits are not mutually exclusive. She has also, finally, surrendered a piece of creative work to a nerd-amateur yearly publication and does volunteer work for the Poetry Australia Foundation. Sadly, a nice stint of being well for 4 months has come to an end, and staying afloat is currently something of a part-time job.
She’s still expecting her friends to buy her martinis. And fit into 26 inch-waisted jeans without too much struggle.
