Arthurian legend leads to theology leads to…

This week, I had this extremely attractive alpha-male friend come and pay me a visit, and he has a very keen interest in the philosophy of religion, predominantly Christian. I was horrified to learn that the monk/ascetic lifestyle was somewhat desirable to him (he’s far too attractive to become a monk!) and he is now taking a brief break at…an abbey.

Anyway, a bunch of comics I paid for arrived, one of which was a graphic novel called Heaven’s War. It’s about Tolkien, C. S. Lewis and Charles Williams - these fellows being a bit obsessed with theology and the obtaining of the Holy Grail, and Aleister Crowley is the baddie (duh. What else would he be?). Alpha-male friend would enjoy it very much, will have to read it again because it’s very intense. Difficult brain stuff! Some of the things they believe would be considered more…new-age and even just plain supernatural, great X-Files plots.

And I just wanted a good read about some famous authors/academics who were friends.
