Ack, what an awful week. Not even in an interesting way - just stressful in terms of that stupid, time-wasting internet nastiness I’ve mentioned. I don’t mind stress over things that matter, but over something that juvenile - ugh.
So over the long weekend, my plan was to get back to basics and embrace the things that really matter - sadly, this includes being isolated (I’m still too much of an idiot to be around people, though some dear people come to mind when I think of getting back to basics).
On Friday, I made it into the city centre and did a bit of shopping. I bought a warm hat to keep my head and ears warm, some silly Japanese girl underwear, some beautiful bath stuff from Lush, and even managed to meet up with dear NMD and have a hot dark chocolate infused with orchid petal oil. It might sound odd, but I promise you, it’s divine stuff.
The highlight of the trip for me was buying a book I’d been dying to read for ages - Life Mask by Emma Donaghue. It’s set in pre-French Revolution Britain when talk of liberty and class inequality is fashionable. I’m nearly halfway through it, you know those books that are just so engrossing, you read them with the ease one watches TV? Just reading this and spending a lot less time on the internet this long weekend has brought my stress levels down like you wouldn’t believe. It’s also very funny, in a Blackadder kind of way.
Ironically, now that the dear admin has given me “the power” (imagine that in a He-Man voice) to really get in there and fix little thingies in my blog, I’ve not been able to. Again - too busy covering my arse with this other internet nastiness. By the skin of my teeth, last Wednesday I managed to see my shrink for all of 15 minutes. We were talking about how bad things got about 2 months ago and even though it happened to me, it sounded so…alien, like it was someone else’s life. Was I really that close to being really nutso? Apparently so. Last week I started to get back into a regular waking up routine, so I’m hopeful that it’ll continue. I just have to remember to stay positive and distance myself from other things.
I crapped on too much here, so I’ll have to post my gory tale situated in Clapham in the next post. I do sincerely hope anyone who is reading this is having a nice, relaxing weekend, and that it will continue into the week.
