Ah, at last! Excuse the title, I was feeling silly.
Finally starting to get some work done! It’s been a nice, laidback weekend, and I’ve been up all night watching amusing television and writing up bits and pieces of reviews for Blogcritics - the beginnings of a concert review. I’ve also received a work in PDF format so I can start reading it straightaway.
I know people think blogging is lame, and believe me when I say I used to be one of them, but in my own writing I do start to see benefits. I’ve always thought of myself as primarily a poet but blogging, and writing for Blogcritics has forced me to become more versatile. It’s also a lot more fun - with my poetry, there’s so much pressure to get the right word, or capture the right feelings into words.
It doesn’t always work, either. When NMD came over I asked him to read over two versions of a poem I’d written. His interpretation of it differs a fair bit to what I want the reader to ’see’, so does that mean I’ve not done my job as a poet properly? It’s supposed to be about longing to return to one’s home, or to a place where all humans will eventually go (the earth) but he thought it was about victimisation. He’s right - but that’s secondary, to me. That doesn’t mean I’m going to rewrite it, hell no!
It’s been fun writing up posts. One post I was planning for Blogcritics didn’t quite pan out, but seeing as it fits my main blog’s theme, I can put it up there. Hopefully, it’ll be a good month for getting up more posts on Blogcritics. I get scared that they think I’m just requesting all this review material and not actually planning to do them! Mind you, only two items supposedly on their way have made it to me so far. It takes a while. But no matter.
