further along publication road

I finally got back another local submission of some poetry I made ages ago, and none of them were chosen, which doesn’t really surprise me. It’s making me think twice about going to the Wollongong workshop in Jan 2007 - I only have to choose 12 pages of recent poetry and I’m not really happy with any of my stuff at the moment. But come on! 12 bloody pages is hardly anything. Perhaps I’m not mature enough a poet to really get anything out of this workshop? I want to write more but need to keep my health and sanity too. Keeping the sanity even without writing the poetry is hard enough as it is!

It’s okay though: I have a few more submissions planned and remain hopeful (you have to if you really want to achieve your dream, don’t you?).

I finally had a burst of energy and finished a review for Blogcritics, my first in about 3 weeks. This week should be a bit better now, now that I’ve decided not to apply for writing school for next year. I’m dying to write some more beauty columns but that’s really taken a backseat lately, even though in a way it’s more important to me than the review writing. I will have one beauty product post coming up as finally, I got to try the products that Lush Australia sent me for reviewing. I’m trying to keep my (recorded) opinions about the products till then, very quiet…which is hard given my enthusiasm for bath stuff.

I need more time to write, and to read. Recently I’ve been gobbling up a Pink Floyd biography for reviewing - it’s a great read but I’d love to put aside that reading and get through my own ever-growing stash of novels etc. Perhaps this coming year I’ll try not to be so greedy with the Blogcritics review material! It’s addictive though - and very fun.
