online distractions - LibraryThing

I could no longer resist the temptation…I’d heard so many things about it but did not check it out. Finally I caved and now I am a LibraryThing user.

If you like you can visit my profile by clicking on the button:

Or you can see what’s in my book collection by clicking on the following:

And everyone knows how much I lurve the lists…it’s so much fun! The only catch is free accounts are only allowed to catalogue 200 of their books and most bibliophiles I’m sure would have a lot more! I’m actually considering subscribing for life as it’s only 25 USD and that way I can list to my heart’s content! I’ve been choosy with what books I’ve added to my library only because I’m a tad afraid of hitting the limit too quickly.

Did I mention you can perv on others’ collections too? What glee! So have a perv at my collection to get an idea of what’s on my shelves!

Queen of hearts - week 1

This was a fantastic exercise! I had so much fun with this - we were given a photocopied handout detailing the meaning of each card in a four-suite deck - just an ordinary pack of playing cards.

I got the queen of hearts - woman of fair complexion, faithful, prudent, affectionate.

This is what I wrote in response to that - we were given about 30 minutes. It’s fanciful but hey, it was on the fly so do excuse me! Again, edited ever so slightly.

Chain - week 2

This is some microfiction done in about 20 minutes in a local writers’ workshop I attend every Friday. This is only the second workshop class we’ve had and seeing as I had so much fun writing it, I thought meh, why not put it up on my blog for (at least, thankfully because they are so faithful!) friends and stuff to read.

This one is called ‘Chain’. We had a bunch of topics we could choose to write about and that was what I chose. There are supposed to be all sorts of different ‘chains’ in play in the story. Perhaps you can tell me if I was successful in getting that across or not? I edited it ever so slightly.

intelligence - c’est moi

Hopefully by the time this is readable, the problem I pray will be resolved thanks to the hands of some real tech people as opposed to hacks like myself.

I attempted to upgrade my blog software. The last time I performed this, I was successful but it was still quite stressful. However, this time I was not so successful thanks to the software somehow being downloaded and getting all corrupt (thank you Dee for the support forum links that told me this), installation wasn’t as smooth.

a productive day!

I haven’t been very well lately with irritable bowel syndrome but today was my first day of some relief and I got to work!

I e-mailed someone about submitting poems for a poetry anthology aimed at 10-14 year olds. I sent in not one but two submissions of work - one individual was looking for poems on suicide, and another place I sent off five poems to *bites fingernails*.

the sugar mouse

I can’t sleep. I was chatting earlier in the day to a pal in Arizona (hi C!) in talking about her significant other, it reminded me a lot of my ex, who sounded similar in a particular situation and aspect. So I’m up, trying to sleep but not really getting anywhere. Missing one’s ex is very inconvenient, if not pathetic. Go on, I beg you to tell me.

I decided to try and deal with this constructively and write about a treasured memory.

confessions

Of an English-born lipgloss addict.

There is no way in hell that I’m going to be able to catch up on my social blog reading. I’ve been too sick for too long and I’m struggling enough as it is to get back into the swing of things. This pains me greatly. I finally bit the bullet and clicked on my cute little Sage browser icon (Sage is a live bookmark thingie, in case you’re wondering, or just go here. I lack the brain capacity to even explain that Broken Lizard were behind such hilarious films like Super Troopers and The Dukes of Hazzard) and shiznit…I am so behind on my blog reading it isn’t funny. A fellow social blogger colleague even cancelled their subscription to my blog (yeah, it’s kind of bizarre that people actually subscribe to my blog. That is where having friends comes in handy). Possibly thinking I’d died or had something useful to ramble about (ur, I don’t…psst, don’t tell my few friends!).
