Yesterday was an amazingly productive day. I managed to finish the book I was reading (Sarah Waters’ The Night Watch) and get a third of the way through another I just started (Celia Lyttelton’s The Scent Trail). I also applied for a lot of jobs and have a group interview for one of them already, it’s only for 2 months (the job) but it’s better than nothing. I’ll take whatever I can get at present!
Last night I caught up with a pal of mine who is, poor thing, very stressed about his PhD thesis and writing papers for publication. It was lovely to see him though, we went to an Italian restaurant called Donnini’s which serves amazing pasta (I had the trio of pastas and he had a pizza) and then after that we went to a Spanish doughnut place and had churros (that’s what they call Spanish doughnuts apparently) which you then dip in melted chocolate. The doughnuts are these sticks of pastry that are deep fried then covered in icing sugar and cinnamon. I also had a hot chocolate with chilli which was divine, though very spicy!
I couldn’t sleep last night and got up very late as a result…think today will just be a quiet, easy day even though I was supposed to go to the social security centre today. Whoops. Next Monday instead!
