I listen to too much Radiohead. I don’t care, they’re ace! Am loving Hail To The Thief at the moment.
So yesterday earlier in the day wasn’t too fantastic, but the evening got better. I found myself at the pub surrounded by various lovely EMS people (whose ranks I shall shortly be joining. One of my workmates cracked up when he found out I was changing my hours of availability to play flute in a concert band…). I think EMS people might slowly be restoring my faith in the human race. Go nice, smart nerds!
So I ended up at the house of one such member to drink homemade alcoholic beverages of various flavours - there was a really nice coconut-flavoured one, a sour mandarin one, a violently bright green one and a couple of others I’m sure I’m missing.
I did feel it a little in the morning.
Work was ace today. I got time off the phones to rewrite my supervisor’s report on coaching agents (that would be us), and also to stand around while another workmate decorated someone else’s desk to celebrate their coming nuptials. My tummy was playing up a little and I was allowed to go downstairs and get some soothing herbal tea for it. I get there and the usual coffee shop guy is there on the phone, looking very stressed. He asks me for advice on something and I sort of shuffle uncomfortably…I mean, this poor human has no idea how much of a fuck-up I am and I’ve no idea how to tell him. So I end up dispensing advice…which was apparently deemed sound. I had to dash, so wasn’t able to find out whether my advice was actually good or not.
My friend DC came over tonight and we watched Ace Ventura: Pet Detective on DVD. I still would have much rather watched Casanova (remember, people, the Russell T Davies version, NOT the Heath Ledger one) but it was fun. Rob cooked his awesome burritos, what an ace housemate, even though DC is predominantly vegan (and had eaten before). I forgot how much of an overactor Jim Carrey is…though the parody of The Crying Game is pretty bloody funny (towards the end).
It also looks like TT and I are going to the Ladytron gig here in October, which should be fun. Tickets don’t go on sale for a while.
Ooh, and another wonderful surprise: I got home today from work to find I had received a postcard from C! I was so excited, it really made my day. Well, that and something else…it does concern a boy and me being…socially retarded and (finally, thank god…) him not hating me for it. Which is kind of nice given that I seem to have made an awful lot of mistakes in the last couple of months regarding boys and my social retardation (in fact it’s predominantly because of DC that I’ve chosen to password protect so many of my posts). I know it must be my fault as it’s been more than one person that’s found fault with my conduct.
“I don’t know…why you bother / Nothing’s ever good enough for you…” (Radiohead’s ‘A Punchup at a Wedding’ - it makes me a bad person that I’d kind of like to see one of those…just not at my brother’s)
Oh - one more thing, I met a new cat in my apartment block today. His name is Sam, he’s very vocal, but very shy. I do hope we get to meet properly sometime! His owner was really nice.

Glad you had a good day and EMS sounds great!
Hee, Jim Carrey does overact sometimes, but I love Ace Ventura

Yeah, I’ll have to give you the low-down on the whole day…
